Yamunotri Dham

The Yamunotri temple is usually the first stop-over for the Char Dham Yatra. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. Large numbers of devotees visit this shrine during the months of May to October. According to legend, Yamunotri finds special mention in Hindu mythology which was the home of an ancient sage, Asit Muni.

Gangotri Dham

Gangotri is a small town centered around the temple of Gangotri temple and is one of the holy places among the four Char Dhams. It is the highest and the most important temple of river Ganga which is worshiped as a Goddess in India.

The origin of the holy river is at Gaumukh, set in the Gangotri glacier that can be accessed by a short 19 km trek from Gangotri. But according to Hindu mythology, Gangotri is the place where river Ganga descended from heaven when Lord Shiva released the mighty river from his luscious locks.

Nachiketa Lake

Nachiketa Lake is a scenic wonder of the region. Mythological tales reveal that the lake was formed by Uddalok, who named the place after his son; Nachiketa. Kuteti Devi- a form of Goddess Durga, this is a Hindu temple, located on Hari Parvat hilltop, on the bank of Bhagirathi. It is believed that the temple was built by son-in-law and daughter of Maharaja Kota, after being blessed by the Goddess herself. The natives from the adjacent villages worship Kuteti Devi- as their main guardian deity, however, this temple is visited by both tourists and locals alike.
